                       The 1st AnneValley Run

The 1st AnneValley run was in July 2007 and was a challenging 10k run, from Harney's Pub in Dunhill, to Annestown and back, which took in the all the splender of the Anne Valley and Dunhill Castle along the way. 98 runners and 102 walkers took part in the event.

The proceeds from the 1st AnneValley Run went to the Tramore Chernobyl Childrens Holiday Fund, and below Maire, Tricia and Martha can be seen presenting a cheque for €1487.79 to Tom and Kay Hosford. This money then went on to sponsoring children to allow them to come to Ireland for a 3 week holiday, which has major benefits to their health and there overall wellbeing.

                       The 2nd AnneValley Run

The 2nd AnneValley run took place at the end of February 2008, this time however the course was over a shorter but still just as challenging 5 Mile circuit. Again the course took in all the splender of the Anne Valley and the ruins of Dunhill Castle. This year however the runners grew to a fantastic 198 participants while over 200 walkers took to the roads.

The proceeds from theŢnd AnneValley Run went to Our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin, and below Maire and Tricia from the AnneValley Run and Willie Moore and Pat Baldwin from DREL, can be seen presenting a cheque for €5000.00 to Nicola Mernagh. This money then went on to help fund some of the great work that takes place for the sick children in Crumlin.

                       The 3rd AnneValley Run

The 3rd AnneValley run took place on the 14th of February 2009, using the same challenging course as last year. This year however the runners grew again to a fantastic 270 plus participants with the walkers down to just about 100.

The proceeds from the 3rd AnneValley Run went to the South Eastern Cancer Foundation for the SOLUS Project, and below Maire and Tricia from the AnneValley Run with members from our main sponsors DREL and Waterford AC, and Chief Starter Mr. Jim Harney can be seen presenting a cheque for €4,000 to the Committee of the SOLUS Project. Also in the picture are members of the Tramore Chernobyl Holidays Fund who received a cheque for €400 to go towards the sponsorship of a child from Chernobyl.

The 4th AnneValley Run

The 4th Annual Anne Valley 5 mile Challenge took place on Feb 13th 2010. The walkers, 120 plus of them lead the way at 11am. Next off were the juveniles in what was a new event for us this year and it was great to see just over 80 children taking to the start line. For the main event we had over 360 runners in what was a great race, and for the first time it won by a local Patrick Flynn in a time of 26:34, first of the women home was Corinna Walsh in a time of 31:54. This year it was also great to see that the first 150 competitors were over the line within 40mins which is an achievement in itself for this course. The AnneValley Running Committee would like to thank all of the competitor and everybody who helped out on the day, making this once again a successful race and in the process raising a massive €7,000 for another worthy cause in the Jack and Jill Children's Foundation.

On the 12th May 2010, the committee of the Anne Valley 5 Mile Challenge presented a cheque for €7,000 to Jonathan Irwin, CEO of the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation.

The 5th AnneValley Run

The 5th Annual Anne Valley 5 mile Challenge took place on Feb 12th 2011. The walkers lead the way at 10am. Next off were the juveniles in what was the second year of this event, and it was great to see so many of the younger ones getting involved. For the main event we had over 375 runners in what was a great race, with 174 of the runners coming in under the 40 minute mark. The race was won in a super time of 26.25 by Graham Power, however the course record for the men still stands at 25.42 held by Raivis Zakis. Niamh Richardson now holds the course record for the female competitors which stands at 31.15, beating the previous course record by 1 sec which was held by Corinna Walsh. The AnneValley Running Committee would like to thank all of the competitor and everybody who helped out on the day, making this once again a successful race and in the process raising a massive €4,000 the Jack and Jill Children's Foundation, and €1,000 for the Boatstrand Sea Safety Centre.

On the 15th April 2011, the committee of the Anne Valley 5 Mile Challenge presented a cheque for €4,000 to Jonathan Irwin, CEO of the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation.

The 6th AnneValley Run

The 6th Annual Anne Valley 5 mile Challenge took place on Feb 11th 2012. The walkers lead the way at 10am. Next off were the juveniles in what was the third year of this event, and it was great to see so many of the younger ones getting involved again fro this. For the main event we had over 413 runners in what was a great race, with 178 of the runners coming in under the 40 minute mark. The race was won in a super time and new course record of 25:28 by Brian Murphy (who later in the year went on to win the first every Waterford Viking Marathon in June, and came 26th overall in the Dublin Marathon in October). The female course record was also broken on the day by Mags Kirwan Bolger in a time of 30:22. Hopefully with 2013 and the 7th AnneValley 5 Mile Challenge the competition will be just as good.

On the 20th April 2012, the committee of the Anne Valley 5 Mile Challenge, with the sponsors and the extended team presented a cheque for €7,000 to Jonathan Irwin, CEO of the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation, and a cheque for €1,000 to the Sacred Heart Centre in Waterford City.

 

The 7th AnneValley 5 Mile Challenge

The 7th Annual Anne Valley 5 mile Challenge took place on Feb 9th 2013. The walkers lead the way at 10am. Next off were the juveniles in what was the fourth year of this event, and it was great to see so many of the younger ones getting involved again fro this. The race was won in a super time and a new course record of 25:11 by Philip Harty. Hopefully with 2014 and the 8th AnneValley 5 Mile Challenge the competition will be just as good.

The 8th AnneValley 5 Mile Challenge

The 8th Annual Anne Valley 5 mile Challenge took place on Feb 8th 2014. The walkers lead the way at 10am. Next off were the juveniles in what was the fifth year of this event, and it was great to see so many of the younger ones getting involved again for this. Hopefully with 2015 and the 9th AnneValley 5 Mile Challenge the competition will be just as good.

Next off were the juveniles in what was the sixth year of this event, however this year we changed things around a bit, and ran the juvenile race through the middle of the main race. Here's to 2016 and the 10th AnneValley 5 Mile Challenge, lets make it the best yet.

Next off were the juveniles in what was the seventh year of this event, again this year we and ran the juvenile race through the middle of the main race. Here's to 2017 and the 11th AnneValley 5 Mile Challenge, lets make it the best yet.
